Madeira Beach produced the single most useful piece of local seawall evidence in Tampa Bay. During Helene, the Gulf-side seawall was overtopped by up to two feet — and the bayside seawall by over four. The side most owners treat as the sheltered one took roughly twice the overtopping.

During Hurricane Helene, surge overtopped seawalls on both sides of Madeira Beach — and the bay side was worse.

Pinellas County received a $29.4 million federal grant to repair storm-damaged creeks — which is shoreline erosion work, not seawall replacement.

This programme is public creek and streambank work — it is not a private seawall funding source, and no part of it should be read as available to a private owner.
